    I was in a Waffle House once (last time ever) and I witnessed a manager take a wet towel that he quickly used to scoop up something on the floor and then he wiped down a table with the same towel. I’m glad they are disaster prepared. Now they need to work on keeping their customers safe.

    Almost every restaurant I have ever been in will wipe down the seats of chairs or booths then use the same cloth on the table.

    Just as gross!

    how can anyone compare what Lowes, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart must deal with from a disaster pov to Waffle House? If Waffle House is ‘missed’ by a tornado, etc, and still standing, the matter is seeing if their 20 something ee’s are available…each of their retail competitors mentioned here have 100’s…and then consider inventory…it should be easier to arrange for the delivery of hamburger, eggs, milk and such than 20 tons of drywall…no offense to Waffle House, if they are prepared that’s great, but what a stupid comparison…must be someone with tenure at Wash U.

      Where else will all of the Lowe’s, Home Depot and WallyWorld employees go to graze if the Waffle House can’t operate? Very perplexing!

    Funny… I remember a couple of years back, when my daughter and her friends went to the Waffle House after their senior prom. When they arrived, the employees told them they were OUT OF WAFFLES!!! They said they had the batter “locked up.” Some time after that, I was coming home at 4AM, after spending the night at the hospital with my mother, and stopped by a DIFFERENT Waffle House. They too were out of waffles, so I said: “Okay, I’ll have the biscuits and gravy.” When they said: “Were out of gravy”, I said: “You might as well shut the doors”, and walked out! I haven’t been back since!

    Leave it to Waffle House to keep the scattered, smothered and covered going on the plate when it’s just the same outside. . .

    Heck, I was in a KFC store a couple of years ago and they were out of chicken. They were waiting for another store to bring them a fresh supply.

    I am a regular visitor to my local Waffle House and it is ALWAYS clean and no scary habits by the staff. The one young man who committed a cleanliness faux pas was fired immediately.

    Plus, the juke box is filled with funky Waffle tunes.

    DO NOT BESMIRCH THE WAFFLE HOUSE! They’re keeping the American diner alive. It’s supposed to be gross, that’s where the term ‘greasy spoon’ came from.

    And to pile on with the ‘restaurant out of their signature food’ comments: One time i went to the Burger King in my college’s food court; the clerk told me they were out of burgers. I said “so what…are you just ‘King’ now?”

    Sorry, but I would besmirch any restaurant which uses the same towel to clean tables that they use to clean the floor. Granted, that may have been just one bad apple, but I’m never going back to a Waffle House again.

    My daughter went there last week for her first time to try one of their popular items….Chocolate Chip Waffles. They were out of chocolate chips and wouldn’t have any for three days. Suppy Chain…..Great example? No big deal, but to rate them among top four companies…..just sayin’.
