This is not what Obama wants with over 60% of the public against this healthcare law. The last thing Obama wants is an election debate over Obamacare and the mandate to purchase the coverage during the 2012 election cycle. Neither do the Democrats who pushed this thing through in the dark of night that have to run for reelection this next year. This along with the terrible economy and unemployment is a nightmare for Obama’s reelection.
The folks are going to vote more with their pocketbooks than anything else, but striking down Obamacare in the midst of the election season will be the last nail in the coffin on his election chances. I think most people want to wake up from the 4 year nightmare and get back to restoring America. They had their chance and blew it bigtime. No more Progressive agenda. That has a good ring to it.
“The decision not to seek review by the full appeals court will likely speed up consideration of the matter by the high court in its 2011-12 term that begins next week.”
So much for the very recent Right Wing conspiracy theories in the comments sections of this website that claimed that Obama was doing everything he could to delay review of the case by the Supreme Court.
Other Point, The reason for the delay was to put it outside the election. There was always a risk this thing could come before the court right before next years election. This way it will be over at least 6 months prior. If you do not think that both the right and left are not doing things for political reasons your insane. This is now all about politics and their reelection.
TERM LIMITS – ONE TERM, AND NO MORE LIFETIME BENEFITS FOR CONGRESS. CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT CONGRESS SHALL PASS NO LAW THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO ADHERE TO THEMSELVES.
This is the problem with politics today. If he asked for a full panel review, you would accuse him of playing politics seeking a delay. If he doesn’t ask for full panel review, you accuse him of playing politics by trying to get a decision well before the election. He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
Obama could find the cure for cancer and you guys on the Right would accuse him of putting oncologists out of work.
He’s doubling down. If the issue were to linger, the Republicans could continue to pound on the law, capitalizing on negative public opinion and making empty promises for repeal.
Deciding this issue in the months before the election has limited downside and huge potential upside. If the mandate is struck down, he is embarrassed and probably loses the election – but he is in danger of losing anyway. If the mandate is upheld, it vindicates his position and deflates the criticisms being lobbed by the Republican candidate, and he is re-elected.
Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us. I think the American people have had enough of this nonsense and have fully awakened. The idiot voters will probably stay home next time. This guy has nothing to run on except to attack conservatives and that won’t wash anymore.
Ed, you forget that you had to pass the bill to find out what was in it. (Remember Nancy Pelosi’s comment) Well Nancy, we found out whats in it, and we dont like it!
Well, thankfully, America is a Constitutional Republic. This (in theory) is made to help avoid the masses from overrunning the minority. If 60% of Americans thought that slavery should be reinstated, should it? I think anyone that wants to live in a truly civalized socity would declare “NO!”
Believe it or not, just because most people think a certain way, doesn’t make it right or correct.
Exactly right. Our system was set up to prevent the tyranny of the majority. True democracy is like asking two wolves and sheep to have a vote on what to eat for dinner.
And remember folks, Obama ran for election and promised to reform health care. And a majority of voters pulled the lever for him. It’s not like the health care law came as a big surprise. It’s what most people wanted!
The reform we are looking for is reduction in healthcare costs not forcing people to buy the coverage. However, if you don’t buy the coverage, should my costs go up to pay for your health care?
Round and round she goes, where she stops nobody knows!
Excuse me, but did you ever hear of ACORN? There was a man on TV who voted for Obama 26 times w/ACORN. If that happened to McCain there would have been a riot. If you think that we voted legally for Healthcare, think again. ACORN is a living testimony to it. You don’t hear to much about ACORN any more do you? Gee I wonder why?
I will almost feel as sorry for the IJ as I will for Obama if this thing goes down in defeat. I am still trying to figure who has more invested in this law. LOL….
I wonder how many hypocrites opposed to the Affordable Health Care Act have taken advantage of the “Under 26” rule and have enrolled their college-aged children under their policies. I’m sure the number is considerable.
I believe they don’t have a choice in the matter – their children are automatically insured because it’s law – it doesn’t have anything to do with being a hypocrite or not being one. The age was extended to 26. Get off your high horse.
OBNOXIOUS COMMENT IN ALL CAPS!!!!!

I consider myself mostly conservitive, and I agree with you 100% on your above statement TOPOV.
But you have to admit, the Left is guilty of the same thing. Both parties need to stop following their party so blindly.

This is smart politics if you ask me.
Limited downside, LMAO…. He is done if the courts rule against it. Done!
And without the ruling he may be done as well. Democrats are fed up with his attempts at compromise, and Moderates think he’s ineffective.
If 60% of the population dont want it, then why is even a subject for any court?
I’ll bet 60% of the population would go for tort reform.
60% of the population would support anything with the word “reform” in it.
Yeah, the same 60% who voted for “Hope and Change”, I will give you this Youngin, the voters are idiots, Obama is proof of that!

Ridiculous analogy comparing reinstating slavery to a piece of legislation congress imposes on the people yet excludes themselves.
