Companies Partner on Smaller Earthquake Insurance Risks

January 26, 2012

Insurance Company of the West (ICW) and WKFC Underwriting Managers have announced a continued expansion of the relationship between the firms for commercial earthquake insurance.

The partnership between ICW Group and WKFC focuses on the smaller, transactional earthquake accounts.

Beginning in February, WKFC will handle all of ICW’s small account business, specifically all new and renewable difference-in-conditions (DIC) accounts with a total insured value under $2.5 million. This will include clearing, quoting and binding.

The program is available in all 50 states on admitted paper. Minimum premium starts at $2,500.

The San Diego, Calif.-based ICW has underwritten earthquake-driven commercial DIC accounts since 1993 on either a primary or excess basis. The company provides coverage for buildings, business personal property, loss of business income, earthquake sprinkler leakage and repairs required by local authorities.

WKFC is a managing general agent specializing in excess and surplus lines. The company is headquartered in Melville, N.Y. and has offices in California, Georgia, Illinois and Texas.
