Chartis Introduces Package Policy for Schools, Associations, Public Entities

April 10, 2012

Chartis has introduced Leaders Risk Protector, a modular insurance product expressly designed for schools, associations and public entities that was developed by its Financial Lines division. Underwritten by the Chartis insurers, Leaders Risk Protector allows insureds to bundle a number of coverages into one policy, offering coverage for errors & omissions (E&O); management; network security and privacy; event management; and employment practices liability (EPL).

Leaders Risk Protector provides coverage for schools, associations and public entities as well as the personal exposures of their management and employees. The E&O coverage is provided on a duty-to-defend basis and prior acts coverage is available. In addition, the modular format of Leaders Risk Protector offers insureds the following options:

  • EPL insurance, which has been expanded to include coverage for a range of new exposures, from workplace bullying to violations of the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act. EPL Insurance is a complement to EPL Pak Premier, which provides access to employment risk management and loss prevention tools and services.
  • Security & privacy insurance, which responds to third party liability claims arising from a breach of the entity’s network security or other incidents that put personally identifiable information in the insured’s care at risk.
  • Event management insurance, which pays for public relations services to assist in managing and mitigating a covered privacy or network security incident, including the costs to notify individuals of a release of private information and of credit-monitoring or other remediation services to help minimize damages to those individuals whose private information was disclosed.
  • CrisisFund insurance, which provides funds (with no retention) for an insured to hire a preapproved public relations firm to help manage communications surrounding a covered crisis event and mitigate potential damages to the entity’s reputation.

“Schools, public entities, and associations may be held responsible for damages emanating from diverse exposures including breach of public duty, employment practice violations, and data security and privacy violations. Leaders Risk Protector delivers coverage for these multifaceted liabilities in one policy form,” said John Gambale, president of the professional liability unit within Financial Lines.
