Amanda Greenwold Wise will assume the position of vice president and chief counsel for federal affairs for the American Insurance Association (AIA), the Washington, D.C. trade group said.
Wise joins AIA from the law firm Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP. She also served for more than a decade at the U.S. Department of Treasury.
From 2000-2012, Wise served as senior counsel in the Department of Treasury’s Office of the General Counsel, Banking and Finance. She assisted with the development of legal and policy direction for the office, as well as its interactions with the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) and helped build out the newly created Federal Insurance Office (FIO).
She was also involved in the drafting of insurance provisions in the Dodd-Frank Act, and provided counsel on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program (TRIA).
From 2011-2012, Wise worked at the FSOC in the Office of the Independent Member with Insurance Expertise, where she assisted on work pertaining to the Dodd-Frank Act.
Most recently, Wise served as counsel at Debevoise & Plimpton, where she advised and assisted clients in dealing with various government agencies, members of Congress and the Federal Reserve.
