ProHost USA, XL Add Umbrella Excess Coverage to Restaurant Insurance Product

February 6, 2015

XL Group and insurance program administrator ProHost USA have added an extra layer of insurance protection to its umbrella excess insurance coverage product offering for fine dining and casual restaurants.

“Restaurants can face some significant risks and claims,” according to Heidi Strommen, President of ProHost USA. “Costly liquor liability, food allergy and many other claims can deplete a restaurant’s primary insurance coverage quickly. Having an additional layer of excess insurance protection can be critical to a restaurant’s survival.”

According to Strommen, ProHost clients can purchase an additional layer of protection from their primary insurance carrier which, “for many, in the event of a claim, leads to fewer coordination hassles and conflicts,” she said.

Through the XL Group insurance companies, ProHost provides restaurants, ranging from fine dining to casual dining, with insurance packages which include primary coverages such as general liability, property, equipment breakdown, and liquor liability. When primary liability insurance limits are exhausted, excess insurance coverage provides additional limits to address outstanding claims. Excess limits are offered up to $5 million, with additional limits available on a risk-by-risk basis.

ProHost USA, Inc. is an insurance program administrator founded in 1989 and based in Minneapolis. For more than 25 years, ProHost has insured restaurants and related risks working with independent retail insurance agents across the country.

XL Group plc’s insurance companies offer property, casualty, professional and specialty insurance products globally.
