Instead of fighting them… join them. In other words, If Uber is a social media enterprise, and not a taxi service… then why can’t Yellow Cab simply develop an app, and transform itself into a technology / social media company?

Instead of fighting Uber / Lyft… the taxi companies should be praising their creative way of getting around regulations.

Safety in numbers,,, the sooner taxi companies become social media companies, the less conversation we have about the “old days when taxis were regulated.”

Uber has BIG MONEY behind it too… and can’t wait to go public and cash out! Cab companies are heavily regulated… THE SOLUTION: Let the taxi drivers operate under the same laws and regulations as UBER! That is fair! And by the way “the ride sharing experience”… give me a break… you are in a car getting from point A to point B, exactly how much of an “experience” is it supposed to be!

Monopolies do not like to give up their sinecure, especially when they have strong union influence. Uber is a great way to get better utilization from cars already on the road and its payment mechanism benefits both drivers and riders. You can get an upfront cost range of your trip before you order. Try that with a cab! Great service and here to stay, and, yes, existing taxi’s lobbied to put it in CO law that could emulate Uber, the sincerest form of flattery and an admission of their own shortcomings.

Here’s what struck me: “But compared with the hubbub about Uber—its tactics, its safety…”
I’ve been in enough taxi’s in Las Vegas (one of the taxi groups major markets) to know that they attract creeps, aren’t all that safe and Heaven forbid you need a cab to pick you up somewhere off the ‘Strip’. The drivers have to work 7 days a week to make enough to pay off their taxi operator’s fees and still have enough to live on, barely.
