and it isn’t a matter of whether or not a catastrophic event will happen, but a matter of WHEN it will happen.
what did Einstein say about insanity?????
There is a fine line between genius and insanity. In the case of people building on a beachfront or coast, it is insanity since sooner or later they will have a big loss. Movies have romanticized beachfront homes and how nice it is to live on the shore. These people expect we, the taxpayer keep bailing them out and they build right back on the spot they were.
I believe Einstein said: ” if you can dupe the working class into supporting the rich and their lifestyle choices, is it really insanity or is it more akin to improper enrichment?”
Stevie, there has been a whole lot of duping going on for many years, particularly with the last two Presidential elections. If you can dupe the low information voters into voting for a slogan instead of real credentials, that is the definition of insanity. Young people, ie Millenials have no clue what is going on around them and all they know how to do is download an app on their iphone.
Rosenblatt, are you talking about Progressive Politicians putting in disastrous programs, Obamacare, Stimulous spending and hoping for a different result? Is that insanity or what?
Ummmm no Agent, I was merely answering steve who asked “what did Einstein say about insanity?????” Not everything has to be spun into something political – he asked a question & I answered it. That was all.
Oh, silly Rosenblatt…you should know by now that EVERYTHING must be spun into a political statement by Agent! I don’t know when I’ve run across anyone who is more angry and negative all the time.

Here is a NATIONAL concept… If the NFIP were truly a NATIONAL Flood Insurance Program, why not make ALL of the 87 MILLION homeowners pay $250.00/year into the NFIP… That would equate to approx. $21.7 BILLION in ANNUAL PREMIUM for our politicians to GARNER VOTES WITH and FREELY GIVE AWAY… Which is exactly what they do now… ONLY DIFFERENCE WOULD BE… the recipients of NFIP/FEMA MONEY would actually be PAYING at least $250.00/year INTO THE SYSTEM… (Yes, you may VOTE FOR ME or PEDRO and either one of us will make ALL of your WILDEST DREAMS COME TRUE, of that I am… OmniSure!
Actually, what would be proposed is that all taxpayers pay $250 per year to supplement NFIP and pay the losses of the residents of the beachfront properties. That is called redistribution of wealth.
Our older coastal cities are NOT ‘beach front homes for the rich’. They are working class communities like Canarsie Brooklyn. The NFIP restricts new structures on high risk flood plains to reslileint buildings which pay the actuarialy sound risk rate. The social issue we have to face is how to restructure these century old cities as resilient communities without abandonning the middle class.

No Agent, that was Oscar Levant.
Einstein said (basically), “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
