SkiSafe insurance has broadened its underwriting guidelines for its Sailboat Insurance program to provide coverage for sailboat risks with live aboard exposures. In addition to the clientele of sailors already utilizing the SkiSafe program for protection against vessel damage, liability and salvage expenses, coverage will now be available for owners who live aboard their vessels.
According to Executive Vice President Howard Reiff, there are many sailors, especially in California and along both coasts, who live aboard their boats. “Some of these vessels may be older, yet well maintained for both sailing and living aboard. These sailboats are often docked at marinas that require the owner’s policy to list the marina as an additional insured. We can now satisfy the requirements of these marinas and provide immediate certificates of insurance at no additional cost to our customers.”
SkiSafe insurance, a provider of recreational boat and PWC insurance in all 50 states, has insured more than 400,000 boats and jet skis. More than 3,000 insurance brokers have access to its exclusive program, underwritten by Axis Insurance Co.
