Good one Jack. A lot of agents are a bit concerned that some of their fine regional markets will be taken over by one of these giants. We all know that national carriers are not very responsive to agents needs. I know because I represent 3 biggies and it is hard to get anything done with them with slow response time, poor pricing etc.
I find exact opposite. The small regionals may be more competitive when it comes to price, but they lack the resources and expertise. (coverage, RC, claim). Price is usually all they have.
You should get out more Underwriter. My Regionals have very good expertise and resources for a wide variety of risks and I can also get my underwriter on the phone instead of voice mail so we can talk about the account. Often, they use more common sense than the national brands and the response time is really good.
I guess I’d like to know what the context was meant to be. Nothing in the article states he was seriously approached. Unless a happy hour text came thru his cell that he presumed was a joke.
$28.3 billion is a pretty serious chunk of change even for Travelers. I would bet they make a deal with a smaller company in the next year.
I’d like to announce that I too passed on a deal to buy Chubb.

Jay’s comments are being taken out of context…

I passed, also, but it wasn’t Chubb. It was from my Mexican food.
