This is a really sad story. If the facts are true, the accident killed someone and destroyed the life (or at least had a devastating result) on the driver. Nightmare of the accident that killed a passenger, loss of money for legal bills, loss of job and future career possibilities, the list goes on and on. Then there will be those who claim “the car made me do it” which will add to the grief of all of this.
I agree that it is a sad story and manufacturers putting out defective cars with their union labor should be held to account. There are more accidents caused by distracted driving now than almost any other reason. These people are talking or texting at all times and not paying attention to driving.
I guess you have been sleeping like Rip Van Winkle. Have you forgotten about the giant bail out of GM & Chrysler from your Messiah? All to save union jobs who have been making defective cars for eons. Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Volt have all gone by the wayside in recent years. Recalls by the dozens. These cars all made by union labor.
The corporation knew about the problems and hid them while people died. that was a result of a conscious management decision, not a union decision or action. One more time – it’s not whether or not the problems existed (they did), or why the problems existed (design, not workmanship), it’s because the corporation could have prevented deaths by addressing the problems.

I would like to up-vote your last comment more than once, Gork, but it appears this site finally fixed its like/dislike bug. I’m not sure how Agent can blame the workers union for deliberate actions (or inaction, if you prefer) of the corporation’s management team.

Agent, your comment doesn’t really stand. The article said that in 2014 GMC knew about the defect for a decade but didn’t report it when they first discovered it. Obama wasn’t in office in 2004, George W was.
So your giant bail-out point doesn’t really make much sense.

What? No lawyer bashing yet? This is why lawyers are needed ! Because of these greedy corporations that decided it was better business and profit making to just pay the claims later and not fix the problem. I can’t imagine the grief these poor people suffered thinking they were responsible for the deaths of other people.
Allow me to Lawyer bash. They are the scum of the earth. They advertise all the time and some stage accidents on their ads and brag how much they can get in settlement.
And insurance agents/companies don’t advertise? Or sell policies that have so many exclusions that the poor client needs a law degree to decipher? And Insurance Agents/Companies will also brag about how much they will get/give you in a settlement. Lawyers that will actually stage accidents are criminals. You will find criminals in all industries. Including Insurance.

“Agent” – please explain your “union labor” reference? It was the almighty CORPORATION who kept known defects from being addressed, not the “union”.
Republican troll much?
