One thing for sure, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act will either help the work comp carriers or make things dramatically worse.
They must be thinking the ACA will likely reduce fraudulent claims resulting from non work related injuries which have been showing up as on-the-job claims.
Terry, I can see scenarios where employees that don’t have Health insurance file fake WC claims in order to get treatment for a non work related injury. Carriers have to be vigilant and work with employers to identify and prosecute the fakes.
Texas Mutual is all the way up to 8th place now and they only write in one state. I wonder what they are doing right. Could it be excellent underwriting, excellent Loss Control, paying claims fairly, prosecuting fraud and let’s not forget paying dividends to their policyholders year after year.

People with health insurance file fake WC claims all the time too!
And they get caught and prosecuted as well.
