As a Sabres Fan, I am proud to see Rasmus Ristolainen playing for Finland (and leading the team in minutes played). However, I would hate to see him get hurt in a glorified exhibition game. As a hockey fan and as an insurance professional, I would love to have a better understanding of how this insurance works. What if he gets hurt and signs only a bridge deal (2-3 year deal), instead of a long term contract as he was rumored to be interested in before the tournament? What if he signs for “only” 4-5M instead of $6-7M? Any answers out their? Would this be a way for a player to get paid and circumvent the salary cap?

Young man, wake up. If you get that concussion from playing World Cup, don’t expect the Flames to pay for it.
