According to the article this supervisor had a known history of harassment. This being said what we don’t know is the extent of his history, how much upper management was aware of, or what complaints were made by the victim to management.

If management was aware of complaints and failed to do nothing I can definitely see how a court would allow a negligence suit. If it were your daughter being treated like that from her supervisor would you still feel that pursuit of negligence against a major employer was ridiculous? Should someone facing this type of situation be forced to either deal with the actions of their supervisor or quit?

The court didn’t decide that Home Depot was at fault but rather gives the family an opportunity to prove their case. It’s for the court to decide based on facts not provided to us in this article.

The fact is an employer can be sued by an employee regardless if the a dismissal was just or not.

This is NOT a WC claim. He forced her to go to a wedding with him. How is that work-related?

Since when did a crime that happened away from the workplace become the employer’s problem ? Did she call the police ? Lots of information missing here, but from what I see it sure looks like an over reach by the appeals court.

“Cooper eventually forced Bromfield to attend his sister’s wedding in Wisconsin or risk being fired, and killed her after she refused to enter a relationship, the complaint said.” He threatened to fire her if she didn’t go and previous complaints had bee filed against him but her employer failed to address the situation. Per the previous comment, the court will decide if this is the employer’s “problem”.

Because it was initiated at work and his abuse of power at the workplace
you better do as I say or your fired ? If you control someone with those words, that is a threat, as a Boss or a supervisor, it was him that initiated the threat not her and if Home Depot knew of this going on and did not do anything to check this lunatic, then they have blood on their hands

I’ll never so much as enter the parking lot of a Home Depot again. Call me extreme, but show me a recent example another national public company that allows this kind person to supervise vulnerable employees who are trying to eke out a living for their families.

A woman I’ve known for years with all kinds of designations who put in many many years of professional effort and dedication to the industry ended up working at Home Depot out of desperation. She was looking for work when she was in her mid-50’s and could not get a job in the industry. As soon as she was eligible for health insurance, they laid her off. I have avoided Home Depot ever since.

Home Depot didn’t fire a supervisor or called another employee “slut” or “whore” in front of customers?

He should have been immediately fired just for that regardless of whether they thought he was a danger or not.

Home depot is known for discrimination and abuse with thousands of lawsuits
This is crazy, if you look into that supervisors record and talk to his co workers you will see she was not the only one. the managers abuse their power and sex and abuse their employees. They just plain dont care, with hundreds of applications daily, they know your disposable. But to kill a pregnant woman and then raping her corpse, your dealing with a insane individual and how he got to be in position of power is just unexplained.

Cooper should have been hanged by the neck until dead. In olden days, that would have been the end of it.

I haven’t set foot in a Home Depot store in several years because they support and CELEBRATE the queer lifestyles of the LGBTQ communities. It’s not surprising that they would turn their backs on and allow this type of behavior. Any company that believes it’s okay for men to prey on children to satisfy their perverted lusts deserves to be boycotted.
