It’s Not True that Marijuana Dispensaries Increase Crime, Say Researchers

Legalizing something reasonably safe and regulating it reduces crime?? Whodathunk!?!

Still, with our inept DoJ and its push towards even more harsh penalties for marijuana on a federal level, progress will be hard fought and won by the states smart enough to push for legal measures to marijuana.

Never used it, never plan on using it, and won’t let my kids use it while they are minors, but I condone any consenting adult to do so insomuch that they take measures to ensure that it is not given to minors or used in conjunction with the operation of vehicles or machinery that could put lives in danger. To state otherwise would be ridiculously hypocritical on the part of this freedom loving man.

Yep, Sarah Palin, John Hickenlooper, Martha Stewart, Rush Limbaugh, George W Bush, Clarence Thomas, etc, etc, etc are all the most worthless people in our society

…oh wait, you wanted someone to demonize for something tens of millions of Americans have done and continually do on a regular basis, but will now conveniently ignore the conservatives that do so?

        Hmmmm…

          Doug,

We will find some common ground in that Agent is clearly out of line on this one. Marijuana is one aspect I don’t care for the government touching regarding, so we will probably find some more common ground here.

However, we will not find common ground with you turning it into a people / political aspect when it comes to agent. You’re arguing like a snob.

If you want to use studies that show the level of criminal behavior in it’s users, or the affect on career, or something scientific, as you claim you usually do, that’s one thing.

A condescending post about people who use it?

          Is absurd.

            https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/03/26/no-legalizing-medical-marijuana-doesnt-lead-to-crime-according-to-actual-crime-stats/?utm_term=.297e10032495

And then you have people that word it ever so slightly different making their point that legalization won’t affect crime.

And even that is separate from studies claiming that the users themselves are or are not involved in crime, because we can make the assumption that making it legal probably won’t make the users themselves change. If they were criminals before they probably will be after, and vice versa.

Links and explanations to go with them. Whodathunkit?

You constantly berate people here claiming you do this and others don’t, and I come in to see this post to agent?

Change your style. You’re out of line.

Even then you have to be careful, because there are always people referencing studies the other way.

          For example:

          https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/marijuana/how-does-marijuana-use-affect-school-work-social-life

This site believes the negative on some of those aspects, and references as such.

          Also:

“Yep, Sarah Palin, John Hickenlooper, Martha Stewart, Rush Limbaugh, George W Bush, Clarence Thomas, etc, etc, etc are all the most worthless people in our society”

How many on this list currently smoke pot, as opposed to having tried it in their youth? I suppose your argument here is people mess up, so the mess ups they did must have been good right? As long as they turned out ok in the end? What about those who didn’t turn out ok in the end? Can I use them or would that be anecdotal? Get the point?

I believe that pot should be weighed in on, as to whether it is a risk to society, honestly. So that parents know the risks. What you just did here was akin to saying some of the most successful people of all time have done it, and therefore if you smoke pot you can be successful. You don’t see that as dangerous for kids or impressionable minds to see?

Do you know how many people who became losers (not to talk down on them, but they never went anywhere) I knew growing up, who did not simply smoke it occasionally, said, and believed, that the best forward thinkers were pot smokers, as if it actually made them BETTER?

Do you not see this as a danger? Do you think through your potential affect on society with such comments?

Agent saying to reconsider pot use or it is bad is not necessarily damaging, (other than when he acts like a jerk, and that is basically just annoying.) is not in itself potentially leading anyone to become harmed.

          What you’re saying however, is.

I’ve said many times my dad used to call me the prodigal son. I don’t say it to brag about my current splendor (sarcasm there). I say it to mention most things you can claim are bad, I’ve been through and or done, and sympathize with people trapped in it, and know the affects.

And I know people like you who yap yap yap, and talk talk talk, don’t help anyone.

You’re all talk. Walkers know when they see talkers.

I’ll use a Game of thrones quote here for the sake of humor, but beware the language in the scene. There are a few swear words.

Agent, you are so right. Everyone who has ever been to Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, Washington DC or West Virginia surely knows that Dope Heads roam like criminal aliens throughout the states, robbing, pillaging, and worse. 60% of the country is now a No-Go area. If you currently reside in one of these bastions of American carnage, run for your lives! Barricade yourselves indoors before the Dope Heads come for your family!

“Still, with our inept DoJ and its push towards even more harsh penalties for marijuana on a federal level, progress will be hard fought and won by the states smart enough to push for legal measures to marijuana.”

Do you even know what the DOJ is for? To go on a crusade against the DOJ is sheer insanity. You clearly don’t know how the government works. To advocate for it’s removal would invoke chaos.

It is what it sounds like. A department that enforces justice, it does not create laws or determine penal codes. It enforces them. This also works to the benefit of people who are trying to meet parole. If someone is eligible they need only prove it, and the DOJ enforces their parole, as one example.

They do not determine the penalties for Marijuana, they enforce them. Jeff Sessions has already talked about this. It’s his job to enforce the law, not pick and choose what to obey based on popular opinion, he as said as much when it comes to prosecuting Marijuana cases. Should he just break the law and ignore federal law? This is what many state agencies do with regards to illegal immigration as it is. Instead of seeking to adhere to federal law and or changing it, they try to side step it entirely. Gowdy says it best here:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJjqsnE-vp4

If you want marijuana laws to change, pursue the correct avenue, the DOJ is not the proper avenue. Congress and senate are.

“Never used it, never plan on using it, and won’t let my kids use it while they are minors, but I condone any consenting adult to do so insomuch that they take measures to ensure that it is not given to minors or used in conjunction with the operation of vehicles or machinery that could put lives in danger. Virtue signaling. I get it, you’re the best, and everyone else is so judgmental.

      Such sheer arrogance.

You’re not as think as you smart you are. That’s worded that way on purpose, by the way.

Interesting to me that this article looks at “medical marijuana” dispensaries, and imply that their findings would apply to recreational marijuana stores that we have in WA, CO and others. Probably a different thing entirely – but they’ll use the research to influence the public policy debate anyway.

I think he may be too busy typing an onion to his belt because you see, “One trick is to tell em stories that don’t go anywhere – like the time he caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. He needed a new heel for his shoe, so, he decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So he tied an onion to his belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. “Give me five bees for a quarter,” he’d say. Now where were we? Oh yeah – the important thing was he had an onion on his belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing he could get was those big yellow ones…”
