Don’t these politicians, judging from this article-mostly democrats, understand that there is not an unlimited pot of money? Obama just doubled the US deficit to over $20,000,000,000,000. You cannot just keep adding to the deficit. If there is going to be new spending or increased spending, it has to come from somewhere. There is a lot of wasteful government spending that should be cut. Stop grants for stupid studies, and stop sending money to countries that hate us.
I have an idea how about we put a plan in place to scale back the feed to only those powers approved in the constitution. We could then slowly pass the power back to the states to tax as they see fit and provide programs that the states can afford and choose to have.
From my research this was the plan of the founders and it is the changes that have been forced into place by the federal power grabs that are the majority of this nations problems today.

So repeal the tax cuts.
Bush: 101% increase in deficit
Obama: 68% increase in deficit
Caldude,
not certain of your source but per what I can find it would appear that Obama and Bush were equal on a percentage basis both at 57% but on a dollar basis watch out for Obama at $6.69 trillion the largest of any president in history. Why the numbers vary so I am not certain but no source I could find lined up with your numbers.

Viewing the deficit increase as a percentage is a more balanced view rather than dollars.
