Here’s the start of Big Brother knowing your driving habits too! They say they wont use the information, but wait until you have claim! Metromile.is another one offering the same thing.

Liberty Mutual is advertising that “pay for only what you use”. Sounds like a mileage deal to me, but the ad is devoid of any other info.

wut? From the article: “SmartMiles was developed to provide a program that allows our customers the freedom to control their auto insurance expenses based on how much they drive and how safe they drive.”

As far as a claim, it’s not uncommon now for carriers to include a provision in the Duties After an Accident or Loss section of the policy contract that stipulates the insured must allow access to a vehicle’s event data recorder in the event of a loss.

Consumers and regulators are barking about the use of unfair and uncontrollable underwriting variables (gender, credit, etc) so I guess telematics is the answer. May not matter anyway because under the New Green Deal we all pay the same for auto insurance or even better, we don’t pay at all.
