    So this might have been the basis of Avenati’s attempt to extort money from Nike?

    Michael Jordan’s elegance and athletic ability are his own; Rentmeester’s capture is not art. I can understand ownership and copyright, but he didn’t “create” the image – Jordan’s grace is owned by Jordan, and the photographer didn’t create the pose.

    He should be paid as one who owns a license; let’s not drag it where it doesn’t belong.
