I know there are more facts to know about this story, but if I am understanding this timeline correct, this person suffered a heart attack before departure at 4PM, was not removed from the ship, was not air lifted off, and remained on board in the care of the ship doctors who had already diagnosed the need for a stent, but are incapable of performing that operation..

This sounds like this family is completely justified in winning a massive lawsuit.. Wish the family the best.. sounds like Carnival is a mess.

Purely speculating, but it sounds like maybe there was a decision to try to airlift him from Grand Turk to Miami that occurred too late prior to the 4pm departure. Hard to say for sure, but I doubt that if the decision was made at 12pm or 1pm to remove him to a local hospital there would have been any resistance from ship personnel, but the logistical coordination necessary to attempt a safe transport off the ship would be time consuming and risky at the same time. I can’t help but wonder when the travel insurer was apprised and what their input was. Depending on coverage they might have been able to arrange for transport, even while the ship was in transit. I guess a thing to consider when doing any kind of travel is what medical facilities are available at your destination, particularly if you are of a certain age or otherwise predisposed to potentially life threatening medical conditions. Any way you look at it, though, it’s just a sad and unfortunate situation and you have to feel for the family.

It appear that Carnival could have promptly communicated with the insurance carrier to arrange more immediate helicopter service for this individual WHILE HE WAS LIVING.
