The market place has 19 carriers offering the same and or better coverage for law firms
with significantly lower premiums. Many carriers offer cyber as a low cost endorsement to the Lawyers Professional Liability policy which is the best way to purchase.

While I don’t disagree with your comment regarding the numerous other carriers offering similar coverage at lower premiums, I can’t agree with your statement regarding low cost cyber risk endorsements offered to lawyers in their LPL policies. I design those low cost endorsements for several LPL insurers and they are not intended to provide coverage on par with a standalone policy. The low cost endorsements are primarily used to protect LPL insurers from large cyber losses. More specifically, those low cost cyber risk endorsements are typically used to limit the possible cyber risk coverage unintentionally provided by the broad “breach of duty” style liability triggers in most LPL policies and contain the cyber exposure in a tightly worded and usually sub limited cyber endorsement. We like the low cost cyber endorsements because they provide both the insured and insurer with certainty, but we do recommend that law firms evaluate stand alone coverage available elsewhere from specialist cyber risk insurers.
