Two jobs is necessary when they pay $15 or less to take care of our elderly.

Have you ever had a relative forced into nursing care? It is VERY expensive. $50,000. to $70,000. per year is typical. Many middle class families lose everything paying for care for elderly relatives.

So what’s your solution? Raise wages and the cost of care?

Nursing homes are super profitable. Maybe instead of the owners pocketing all the profits, they could pay their employees a living wage so they don’t need to work multiple jobs to stay afloat?

But as always, Craig wants to pretend there’s no option that would harm only rich peoples’ yacht money. Residential care facilities are making money hand over fist and paying their employees nothing, it’s yet another thing capitalism has gotten wrong and yet you’d like to pretend it’s NOT a problem of our system.

Maybe if the right actually cared about solutions instead of just yelling “socialism” on anything they don’t like we’d have some progress in this country. Instead, people like you are why we have almost 300,000 deaths with no end in sight. How long before you catch it, Craig?

Hey Dufus, many nursing homes are already effectively “socialism” when they take in Medicaid patients. Go visit one and tell me that is where you want your Mom to end up.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Profit is virtually non-existent for any nursing home that takes in a large number of Medicaid patients. Heaven forbid your relative ends up in one of these hell-holes.

And for private-pay patients, nursing homes are under constant pressure to restrain costs, as more and more people are opting for cheaper care-at-home options.

Truly, Rosenblatt, stop saying dumb things. It is so obvious when you don’t know what you are talking about. If you eliminated ALL profit from nursing homes, the costs wouldn’t go down 10%.
