A 7-2 smackdown! How’s that repeal and replace working out? Something about Health Care Specificccsss? Don’t get me wrong, this law still needs much work to improve. I hope there can be some compromise along the way to make the ACA better. It’s evident now, the law isn’t going anywhere. Thank you, President Obama!
The mandate to me is actually a conservative principle.
Everybody who is able should pay their fair share. If the mandate was not implemented, many people with the ability to pay for their medical insurance would have it subsidized by those who do pay.
What people on both sides of the aisle have not resolved is how to reduce the overall cost of medical care in the country. The focus has been on how it is paid.
Clearly you do not believe in the basic, fundamentals of what insurance is.
In INSURANCE, you pay a premium based on the risk you present to the insurance carrier, it has NOTHING to do with your ability to pay.
The mandate is a socialist principle that requires someone to pay a penalty to the government for failing to comply with their mandate. It does not provide any benefit to anyone except the government.
