I’m also curious to know if the decisions announced by the CEOs of these publicly traded companies also require shareholder approval.

    Another boon for lawyers.

Several commentators have already stated that employers don’t want their young female employees to have kids. It lowers their productivity and focus. This type of declaration (paying for travel and the abortion) certainly dovetails with that sentiment. Big corps are anti-family for a reason. They want that sharp young woman with the MBA from Northwestern to give them 70 hours per week of extremely detailed work plus travel, conferences, off site training etc. and you can’t do that with kids. So, that’s either very “free market” of them or disgusting but I can’t decide which.

It’s neither “free market” nor “disgusting” – it’s a theory based on no evidence at all that diverts from what’s really happening here — women no longer have control over their own bodies in states where abortion trigger laws are in place:

12 year old raped and got pregnant? Forced to give birth.
Ectopic pregnancy that risks the woman’s life? Forced to give birth.
Still birth? Let’s investigate the woman for murder!
Unplanned miscarriage? Let’s investigate the woman for murder!

Any actual evidence, Tiger88? Or, are you just spewing Faux Newz 8 second sound bites from Tucker Carlson? Maybe it’s larger corporations understanding women should have a choice what they do with their uterus and not leave it up to less than half the country who doesn’t think they should be allowed that freedom. Some women don’t have the means of transportation necessary to go 250-300 miles to a clinic outside of their state. These corporations understand that and are in a position to help their employees. Not because they need 70 hours of work a week, but because they see worse ramifications if the would-be-mom were to perform her own operation inside a truck stop bathroom. And believe me, we’ll be seeing a lot more of those as well as parentless children. But that doesn’t matter, right? Conservatives haven’t traditionally cared about what happens to the child after she is born. At that point, it’s about making sure tax dollars are spent more on military efforts and less on struggling, single parent families as well as welfare recipients and children caught up in an orphan state. Doesn’t really sound like Jesus’ message to me, but that won’t stop some of the masses claiming it anyway.
