QBE North America Appoints Coppola Chief Underwriting Officer
QBE North America has appointed Laura Coppola as chief underwriting officer. Coppola joins the company with more than 25 years of technical underwriting experience in property casualty insurance. Coppola is based in New York, New York, and will serve on North America’s executive management board. She will be responsible for portfolio optimization and management across QBE North America.
Before joining QBE, Coppola held senior underwriting leadership roles with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty and Arch Insurance Group.
Parametric Insurer FloodFlash Breaks into U.S. Market with First U.S. Hire
Parametric flood insurance company FloodFlash has named Mark Hara as CEO of North America. Hara joins to lead the company’s expansion into the U.S. insurance market, the biggest flood insurance market in the world. FloodFlash is headquartered in London, England.
As CEO of North America, Hara is charged with developing and executing the U.S. go-to-market strategy, initially launching for commercial property in Florida, Virginia, Texas, Louisiana, and California. Hara is a seasoned marketing and insurance expert with a proven track record in managing multi-billion-dollar brands while at P&G and Nationwide. He has also led and successfully exited two insurtech startups, Mylo and BoldPenguin.
Liberty Mutual Insurance appoints Gosselin to the newly created role of Global Leader, Energy & Transition Risk
Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Mike Gosselin as global leader, energy and transition risk.
Based in London, England, Gosselin brings more than 25 years of global underwriting experience in the energy sector, including 21 years at Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM). Most recently, he served as LSM chief underwriting officer for specialty lines, overseeing energy, marine, construction, property and aviation.

Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Jeff Martin as construction distribution executive for its global risk solutions division, which provides a full range of commercial and specialty insurance, surety and reinsurance solutions to businesses around the world.
Based in the Atlanta, Georgia, area, Martin has more than 30 years of insurance experience, the last six of which have been at Liberty Mutual. Most recently, Martin served as director of elite underwriting and managed a complex book of profitable construction business. Beyond carrier and broker experience, he owned an agency.
