CNA Financial Corp. said it is promoting Doug Worman, currently executive vice president and global head of underwriting, to president and chief executive officer starting in 2025.
Current CEO Dino E. Robusto will transition to a role of executive chairman of the company’s board of directors, where he will serve as a strategic advisor to Worman.

Worman was hired by Chicago-based CNA in March 2017 as chief underwriting officer. He had been CEO of Endurance U.S. Insurance prior to coming to CNA.
The commercial P/C insurer said Worman built product organizations and business units, and he spearheaded the company’s global underwriting committee, which in 2022 led to his current position of global head of underwriting—responsible for the oversight, strategy and underwriting direction of CNA’s P/C operations.
Worman has also held executive roles at Alterra Capital Holdings and was CEO of Alterra US Insurance. He began his career as an underwriter at AIG, eventually becoming CEO of AIG Excess Casualty Group, formerly known as American Home.
“Doug is an exceptional underwriting executive and has strengthened and solidified CNA’s underwriting culture and profitability,” said Robusto. “He builds excellent organizational talent, skillfully cultivates broker relationships, and drives innovation to deliver industry-leading products and services for business customers.”
Robusto headed from Chubb to CNA to become CEO at the end of 2016. He succeeded Thomas F. Motamed upon his retirement.
CNA in August 2020 extended Robusto’s employment agreement through 2024.
