Marsh, a business of Marsh McLennan, announced the extension of its Nimbus insurance facility for the construction of large-scale data centers across the US, as well as in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
Launched in June and initially covering the UK and Europe, Nimbus is supported by a panel of insurers from Lloyd’s and company markets.
It combines traditional construction all-risks, delay in start-up, property damage and business interruption cover. Nimbus provides up to $1 billion in construction all-risks coverage and up to $365 million in additional cover for delay in start-up. Since its launch Nimbus has been engaged in numerous projects, including data center developments in the UK, France, and the Netherlands.
“Data center construction in the US is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by the rapid adoption of cloud computing and digital transformation initiatives,” said Jim Dunn, head of US construction, Marsh “Over the past five years, the sector has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 12%, reflecting the increasing demand for secure, scalable infrastructure. Marsh’s Nimbus data center solution is specifically designed to support this surge, offering innovative risk management strategies tailored to the evolving needs of our clients.”
Marsh also announced the appointment of Kate Fairhead as UK data and digital infrastructure leader for construction, Marsh Specialty. Fairhead joined Marsh in 2015 on the Marsh Graduate program within the construction business. She is based in London.
