Wm. Rigg Co. Acquires Robert H. Leonhart Agency

Cecil Y. Ray Jr., chairman, The Rigg Group, and Charles Reynolds, executive vice president, Wm. Rigg Co., announced Wm. Rigg Co. has acquired the Robert H. Leonhart Insurance Agency Inc. Robert Leonhart has joined Wm. Rigg Co. as senior vice president, programs.

“Bob Leonhart brings a national presence in association program development and implementation expertise to Rigg,” said Ray. “We welcome such an experienced insurance executive and are pleased to expand Rigg’s offerings through this acquisition.”

“Now as an integral part of the Rigg organization, we can utilize underwriting facilities, the marketing group, and financial planning areas throughout the country,” said Leonhart. “This enhances Rigg’s expansion abilities and extends the national platform for all of our efforts.”

The acquisition was completed in February; transaction details were not disclosed.

Leonhart founded Robert H. Leonhart Insurance Agency and Consulting in 1972.

After several years of internal growth and the purchase of three independent insurance agencies, the group began consulting work for national trade associations. A Certified Insurance Counselor and a Licensed Recording Agent in Texas, Leonhart managed over $200 million in premiums nationally for association-sponsored property and casualty insurance programs such as workers comp, fleet auto, property, general liability, inland marine, and umbrella coverages. The agency also assisted developing underwriting guidelines, full safety programs, early return to work programs, workers comp incentive programs, fleet safety, and marketing plans.

Wm. Rigg Co. was founded in Fort Worth in 1895. The multiple-line independent insurance agency offers commercial and personal property and casualty insurance and employee benefits to a wide range of businesses, industries, and individuals.
