Pan-American’s Scott Named National Financial Executive of the Year

New Orleans-based Pan-American Life Insurance Company announced that Executive Vice President of Operations and Finance and Chief Financial Officer Peggy Scott, was named as the 2004 recipient of the National Financial Executive of the Year Award, sponsored by Robert Half International and the 70,000-member Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).

Scott is both the first Louisianian and the first female to win the prestigious award.

The Financial Executive of the Year Award nominees are primarily members of Fortune 1000 companies. The award recognizes and supports the exceptional achievements and ethical practices of financial executives throughout the country.

The award will be formally presented to Scott by New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin at an invitation-only dinner in New Orleans.

Prior to joining Pan-American in 1999, Scott worked for 16 years in public accounting and consulting, having served the last six years as the managing partner of a Deloitte office and as a tax partner. She was the first woman in the company’s 100-year history to head a Deloitte office.

Scott also received a Reagan Presidential Citation for her work on Louisiana budgetary reforms, was named by Tulane University as its 2004 Outstanding Accounting Alumnus, and was named as a Woman of the Year by New Orleans CityBusiness magazine. Scott is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the American Council of Life Insurers, the Society of Louisiana CPAs, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. She is also an editorial advisor for the Journal of Accountancy, and served as an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University Health Sciences Center (Medical School) and on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Blood Center.
