A trial date has been set for an Avoyelles Parish, La., assistant chief deputy and two former deputies on allegations that they scammed an insurance company, the Associated Press reported.
The trial is June 6 in U.S. District Court in Alexandria.
Federal agents arrested Larry Wilmer, 54, of Mansura, Brad Ducote, 36, and Carl Dufour, 50, both of Cottonport, in March following a grand jury indictment.
The men are suspected of defrauding an insurance company of $18,000.
Ducote and Wilmer are suspected of sending to an insurance company information that Dufour was injured while working for the sheriff’s office and had been unable to work since the accident.
Dufour was not working at the sheriff’s office, at the time.
The case stems from a second set of arrests in the same alleged scam.
The Avoyelles Parish District Attorney’s office dropped charges against Wilmer while Ducote and Dufour pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
