Davis, Milnor and Wood Gain Election to IIAT Board of Directors

July 7, 2005

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas elected three new members to the association’s board of directors during the recent 108th Conference & Trade Show in Austin. Steve Davis of GBS Insurance in Bellaire; Donna McCain Milnor of the Luhn-McCain Agency in San Antonio; and David (Woody) Wood of Bogan, Dunlap & Wood Agency in Odessa, begin three-year terms on Sept. 1.

Davis is vice president of GBS Insurance Agency Inc. He is one of two stockholders in GBS, which is also a member of the Combined Agents of America LLC (CAA).

Davis has been an active member of the Houston Big “I,” having served on the IIAJC Committee for the past eight years. Prior local association experience includes service on the membership committee, Houston Big “I” Day Committee, and the Recreation committee among others.

In 1997 he was invited to serve on the board of directors, a five-year commitment. At the end of that service he was invited to go through the chairs and he spent three more years in leadership positions.

“It was a greatly rewarding experience and I look forward to serving on the IIAT board,” he commented.

Davis has also served on a number of state-level Big “I” committees, including the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas Junior Golf Tournament Committee. In 1999 he was national committee chair for the golf tournament when the event was held in Houston. Davis is also an active member of many civic and community organizations.

Milnor is executive vice president of Luhn-McCain Insurance Agency. Her role in the agency began in 1989 as an Aetna Prime Agent, focusing chiefly on personal lines sales.

In the early 1990s, Donna helped develop and manager Anchor Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Luhn-McCain, to provide insurance assistance for difficult or hard to place risks. Today her focus is commercial lines production and the development of niche markets for the agency.

In addition to holding the ACSR designation in both personal lines and commercial lines, plus the CIC, Milnor is currently enrolled in the CPCU and CRM courses of study.

She has been an active member in the Independent Insurance Agents of San Antonio, having served as president in 1998. She served on the board of directors from 1993 to 1999. Her experience with the local association also includes serving as chair for the annual fundraising event and the finance committee.

Milnor recently served as chair of IIAT’s Committee on Accredited Customer Service Representatives. She also was a member of the Young Agent Association Committee.

In addition to volunteer work on numerous insurance professional entities she also has extensive experience with community and other professional organizations including the Texas Association of Residential Service Providers, the Texas Association of Child & Family Services and the Texas Transportation Association.

Wood is vice president and partner, Bogan, Dunlap & Wood Insurance in Odessa. The agency was formed in 1989 when Wood and Shelby Bogan of the then Shelby Bogan Insurance Agency in Odessa became partners. In 1997 the two bought Dunlap Insurance Associates in Odessa and formed the present agency.

Prior to his association with Bogan, Wood owned David Wood & Associates, an agency in Midland, from 1986-89. He began his insurance career working for United General Insurance Agency in Midland. He was a bank examiner for the state after earning a BBA in Business Management from Texas Tech in 1977.

Wood was president of his local Big “I” association in the late ’80s and has been an active member of IIAT committees including service twice on the Committee on Finance. His professional experience also includes service on numerous company/agent advisory councils including Texas Mutual.

“I am excited at the prospect of working as a board member for the Texas Big ‘I,'” Wood said.
