Michael E. Myers has been elected president of Southwest Insurance Agency, a wholly owned subsidiary of SWS Group Inc., a Dallas-based financial services holding company.
A 34-year veteran of the insurance industry, Myers, who has served as executive vice president of Southwest Insurance Agency for the past five years, was promoted to the agency’s top position.
“We are fortunate to have a professional of Mike’s talent and stature on staff to fill this vacancy,” SWS Group Executive Vice President James H. Ross said in a news release. “We are confident in his leadership abilities and look forward to working with him to promote the growth of the company’s insurance business.”
Myers is a former president of the Texas Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (TAIFA) and was the first president of that group to be associated with a New York Stock Exchange securities firm. He is a member and past president of the Fort Worth Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and a member of the TAIFA Political Action Committee. He is also a member of the Texas Leaders Round Table, an honor organization affiliated with TAIFA. He received the 1999 Career Service Award from the Fort Worth chapter of TAIFA and was named Outstanding Regional Director of TAIFA in 1998.
