Former Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher surrendered to authorities at the Oklahoma County jail to begin a three-year prison term in a campaign-corruption case.
Fisher arrived at the jail with his attorney, Robert Wyatt, and declined comment.
Fisher, 67, has been under house arrest at his home in Tulsa most of the time since he was found guilty at trial in February 2006. He lost his appeal Sept. 7.
Fisher will be transferred to the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center, where a decision will be made on where Fisher will be held. He also must pay a $20,000 fine.
Fisher was the insurance commissioner nearly six years before resigning in September 2004. At trial, Fisher was found guilty of embezzling $1,000 of his state campaign funds and of lying on a contributions report.
Fisher still faces other charges.
