Twelve companies with approximately 32,500 employees in Texas recently were approved to self-insure for workers’ compensation claims for a one-year period under the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation Self Insurance Program.
Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation Albert Betts approved initial applications for Certificates of Authority to Self-Insure for both E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, headquartered in Wilmington, Del., and Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc., which has its headquarters in Kansas City, Kan.
