Haigood to Head Texas Fire and Casualty Insurer Association

December 5, 2011

Lyndell Haigood, regional vice president of State Auto Insurance Co., has been elected president of the Association of Fire and Casualty Companies in Texas (AFACT). Haigood was elected during AFACT’s annual meeting in Dallas Nov. 10.

Haigood, whose term as AFACT president runs for two years, says the industry has been challenged with some difficult times.

“Thousands of policyholders have been displaced this year from wildfires and catastrophic storms,” Haigood said. “Insurance companies have done a tremendous job in settling these claims and helping put people’s lives back in order.”

AFACT board members elected Mike Gerik, executive vice president of the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies, as vice president. Paul Ehlert, president of Germania Insurance, was elected secretary/treasurer.

Ron Lawson, vice president of industry relations for the Republic Group in Dallas, will serve as director at large.

AFACT is a trade organization representing Texas-based property and casualty insurance companies. It was founded in 1941 to broaden consumer knowledge of insurance and support legislation to improve the insurance business.
