The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) has launched the Texas Independent Insurance Adviser (TIIA) designation in personal and commercial lines.
IIAT created the TIIA designation program to address the challenges of insuring Texas consumers due to the complexity of Texas forms and regulations.
The commercial and personal lines TIIA designation programs offer a comprehensive training track covering the exposures, policies and regulations that apply to personal and commercial insurance in Texas.
Personal lines classes include personal auto, residential property and personal liability exposures.
Classes for the commercial lines designation include commercial property exposures, general liability, workers’ compensation and specialty policies, and business auto.
To earn either designation, students must also complete IIAT’s E&O Risk Management: Meeting the Challenge of Change class.
TIIA classes begin in May.
Each class is taught by experienced IIAT instructors using class materials that will become valuable references in the office. Exams to earn the TIIA designation can be taken online after each class at no additional charge. In order to maintain the designation, TIIA designees must complete 12 hours of advanced training every two years. Students who complete either program earn the right to use the TIIA designation as a professional credential.
