The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) elected Don Whitaker, president and owner of Whitaker Insurance Associates Inc. in San Antonio, to serve as chair for 2013-2014 during IIAT’s 116th Annual Conference and Trade Show in Dallas. Whitaker’s term begins Sept. 1.
Whitaker is President of Associated Insurance Agents (AIA) and is chair of IIAT’s Budget and Finance Committee and the IIAT Services Co. Board. He has served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of San Antonio, and in 1995, he received the Ben R. Binford award from the San Antonio association, its highest honor, in praise of his steadfast commitment to the industry.
Whitaker has served on several statewide and national insurance company agency advisory councils, and he is currently an instructor for SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses succeed.
With 1,900 member agencies in 225 counties, IIAT is the state’s largest association of independent insurance agents and professionals.
