The Texas Department of Insurance is seeking informal comments on a draft rule outlining how a policyholder with the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association may request additional time for filing a claim with TWIA.
Insurance Code §2210.205 permits the commissioner to extend the one-year claim-filing deadline if the policyholder shows good cause. The rule defines good cause and details requirements for submitting extension requests.
Comments may be submitted to Marilyn Hamilton, director, Personal and Commercial Lines Office at Marilyn.Hamilton@tdi.texas.gov. The deadline to submit informal comments is March 11, 2014.
The public will also have the opportunity to submit comments when the rule proposal is published in the Texas Register.
