Residents in the Oklahoma City area were jolted awake by back-to-back earthquakes Monday morning. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
According to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey, the first earthquake had a magnitude of 3.5 and hit at 5:30 a.m. Monday. The quake had a depth of 3.7 miles and was centered 5 miles north-northwest of Spencer and 11 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
A second, more powerful quake struck at 5:47 a.m. near the same area. The USGS says the second quake had a magnitude a 4.2 and a depth of 3.1 miles.
Residents throughout the Oklahoma City metro area reported feeling the quake Monday.
