Right, “TDI looks closely at this”. I work in the non-standard auto field here in Texas and I know that there some who charge as much as $85 in fees to write a simple personal auto policy. TDI not only doesn’t look at these fees, but NEVER checks to see if these agencies even employ licensed staff! And don’t get me started on the lack of TDI oversight on how these agencies handle claims!!
Are these the only fees allowed? How is “policy fees” defined? Is a reinstatement fee a valid “policy fee”?
May I get a copy of the disclosure form please? Thanks.
Some Auto Insurance Agencies in Houston, TX. charge $100 Fee per customer that come through the doors and buy even on liability only policies and get away with it!
Does anyone know or have any resource or know where I can find what other states will allow an agent to charge such things as policy fees on admitted business?? Any guidance would be helpful.
Is a copy of the IIAT disclosure form, that was mentioned in the article, available to non-IIAT members?
Thanks !
Sure. Email me for a copy.
May I have a copy of the IIAT disclosure form as well?
Thank you.
Good afternoon David,
Do you still have a copy of that disclosure form? I would greatly appreciate a copy.
Best,
Bruce Carter

Since when do agents handle claims? Are you sure you’re not thinking of the MGA?

I read on The Texas Fair Plan manual, that we are not able to add agent fees to any of their products. Is that correct?? Can they decide that.
I read that Texas Fair Plan policies cannot have agency fees added to it. Is that correct? Can they determine that for us, as agents..
Please email me a copy of the IIAT disclosure form. Thanks.
Please email me a copy of the IIAT disclosure form. The link to it on the IIAT website seems to be broken. Thanks!
