Nearly two-dozen passengers of a school bus were hurt when the bus veered off a Houston road and struck a tree.
Houston fire officials say the 20 people taken to hospitals for treatment appeared to suffer minor injuries. There were 28 people on the private school bus. Nearly all appeared to be students en route to school but authorities did not immediately confirm the ages of those involved. The driver was among those transported for treatment.
The front of the bus was crumpled after coming to rest against the tree along the side of a road. Some on the bus were seen being placed on stretchers.
