The Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas awarded Lenita Blasingame, chief deputy commissioner at the Arkansas Insurance Department, with the Allan Kennedy Memorial Award.
The award, presented at the agent group’s 114th Annual Convention, is named for one of the founders and the first president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas, Allan Kennedy of Fort Smith.
It is designed to honor and recognize the insurance industry person today who best lives up to the standards of excellence and leadership set by Kennedy and is the highest award presented by the Association.
Blasingame joined the Arkansas Insurance Department in 1965 and has served under fourteen insurance commissioners. She was named chief deputy commissioner in 2005 and served as an acting insurance commissioner in 2009.
“It is a tremendous honor to the Arkansas Insurance Department that Lenita Blasingame received the Kennedy Award, especially so since she is the only woman to have earned the honor having not previously being a producer. This is a perfect note on which Lenita can cap-off her 50-year career serving the hardworking taxpayers of Arkansas in their Insurance Department,” said Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr.
Blasingame will retire from her post effective at the end of June.
