The Texas Department of Insurance’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) renewed approval for 12 employers to self-insure workers’ compensation claims. Together, the companies employ about 45,000 people in Texas.
DWC renewed:
- ABF Freight System, Inc.
- Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas
- Chevron Corporation
- General Motors Company
- Johns Manville
- Kiewit Corporation
- Leonard Family Corporation
- MeadWestvaco Corporation
- Southeastern Freight Lines, Inc.
- Starbucks Corporation
- Superior Energy Services, Inc.
- Trinity Mother Frances Health System
To get approval to self-insure, a company must meet state requirements and have a minimum workers’ compensation insurance unmodified manual premium of $500,000.
