Cassie Brown has been reappointed by Gov. Greg Abbott as Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) for a term set to expire on Feb. 1, 2023.
Brown has led the Division of Workers’ Compensation since June 2018. Previously, she served as deputy commissioner for Regulatory Policy at the Texas Department of Insurance. In addition, she has served as a policy advisor to former Gov. Rick Perry.
The DWC regulates the workers’ compensation system in Texas, ensuring injured workers receive the necessary benefits to quickly return to work, and that workers’ compensation costs are kept at a reasonable level for Texas employers.
Brown’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
