Oklahoma Announces New Zip Codes for Fortified Homes Program

July 31, 2025

The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) has announced 63 zip codes across the state for the third and final pilot launch of OKReady, the Strengthen Oklahoma Homes program.

A list of the third pilot zip codes can be found on the OID website.

Interested applicants can apply online when the application portal opens at noon on Monday, Aug. 4. The final pilot will close on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

OKReady will allocate up to $10,000 in grant funds per approved household. The grant funding will help consumers pay for approved construction projects that will fortify homes pursuant to the IBHS FORTIFIED Home – Roof™ – High Wind designation with the hail supplement. Grant funds will be paid to contractors on behalf of the homeowner after receiving the IBHS FORTIFIED certification.

According to an OID press release, the latest round of zip codes were chosen based on storm history, insurance loss data and the number of active policies. The department also considered contractor availability and FEMA wind and hail risk scores when selecting them.

“These zip codes represent the communities we want to highlight with our final pilot phase,” said Ashley Scott, deputy commissioner of external affairs and director of OKReady. “As we work toward the end of the year, our team looks forward to working with approved contractors and evaluators and helping families make their homes more resilient to future weather events in these new zip codes.”
