Beecher Carlson Holdings Appoints Two New York Managing Directors

Jeffrey Lattmann and John Kerns have been named managing directors of Beecher Carlson Holdings Inc.’s New York office. Lattmann will also be a senior partner of the newly formed Executive Liability Practice.

Lattmann’s responsibilities will include consultative solution design and implementation for prospects and clients. He serves as co-chair of the Professional Liability Underwriter’s Society (PLUS), the largest industry symposium for directors and officers and will continue in this arena.

Before joining Beecher Carlson, Lattmann led a group of professionals designing, marketing and negotiating directors and officers liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, crime insurance and transactional risk business into the insurance marketplace. He has over 18 years of experience in the financial product area including both underwriting and brokerage. Lattmann has been exclusively served Fortune 1000 companies and complex D&O risks for more than 13 years. This has included traditional risk transfer and non-traditional methods. He has senior level access to all of the major insurance company markets for financial products business.

Prior to this assignment, Lattmann was vice president and manager of the FINPRO department for Marsh & McLennan’s Connecticut operations. He joined the Stamford office of Marsh & McLennan in March 1990 and was a member of the Marsh Global D&O Advisory Board and FINPRO Executive Board.

Before joining Marsh, Lattmann underwrote specialty (FINPRO) lines at AIG/National Union for more than three years.

Kerns responsibilities will include the design and delivery consulting and broking services to clients. His efforts will focus on special coverages such as directors and officers liability and other professional liability and fidelity insurance-related products. He will also troubleshoot major claims and legal issues for the same coverage areas.

Most recently, Kerns worked for Marsh USA Inc. as managing director in charge of the New York branch’s D&O division. His responsibilities included identifying underinsured and uninsured exposures, primarily as a result of litigation, and developing risk transfer solutions in efforts to quantify and contain litigation costs and expenses.

Before joining the New York team, Kerns was managing director in charge of sales and marketing for the Mid-Atlantic Region of Marsh USA Inc. This group specializes in broking of directors and officers liability, professional errors and omissions liability and the coverage associated with mergers and acquisitions such as representations and warranties, litigation management buy-out, and a wide array of financial risk transfer products.

Kerns began as underwriting manager for Continental Guaranty and Credit, a division of Continental Insurance Corporation. As manager of the Hunt Valley, Md. office, Kerns was responsible for marketing and underwriting directors and officers liability, trust errors and omissions, Banker’s Professional Liability Financial Institution Bonds and financial guarantees.
