Florida Office of Insurance Regulation Announces Staff Changes

Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty announced three staff changes at the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

McCarty appointed Rebecca McCarley deputy chief of staff; promoted Chris Bailey to acting director of governmental relations; and named Monte Stevens acting cabinet and legislative affairs coordinator.

McCarley and Bailey report to Chief of Staff Audrey Brown. Stevens reports to McCarley.

McCarley comes to the OIR from her most recent position as the legislative affairs director with the Florida Department of Management Services, serving there from August 2005 to October 2007. McCarley held the same title from February 2004 to August 2005 with the Florida Department of Lottery.

McCarley will oversee the OIR’s market research and technology units, cabinet affairs, recruitment and safety and business development initiatives.

Bailey joined the OIRin June 2005 as the cabinet and legislative affairs liaison. Prior to that he was the special assistant to the Education Commissioner at the Florida Department of Education from August 2004 to June 2005.

Stevens comes to the Office from his most recent role as a senior legislative analyst in the Florida House of Representatives Majority Office, a position he held from January 2007 to November 2007. From September 2004 to January 2007, Stevens was the deputy director of legislative affairs at the Florida Department of Financial Services. And, he served as the deputy director of legislative affairs for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration from September 2003 to September 2004.
