Labor Dispute Costs West Virginia Resort another Insurance Conference

September 26, 2008

A business group canceled another conference scheduled at The Greenbrier because of an ongoing contract dispute between the West Virginia resort and its employees.

The Washington, D.C.-based Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers moved its June 2009 Employees Benefits Leadership Forum to The Broadmoor in Colorado. It’s the fourth conference that the council has moved from The Greenbrier since February.

Council President Ken Crerar told The Register-Herald that he’s not willing to hold a major meeting at The Greenbrier unless a contract is in place.

Contract talks are scheduled to resume Sept. 29.

Resort spokeswoman Lynn Swann says the council’s decision is disappointing but The Greenbrier understands the group’s position.
