Work was stopped when employees found anti-tank mines used in the Korean War and other explosives at a North Carolina construction site.
The Fayetteville Observer reported Oct. 31 that a box containing the live mines as well as training charges was unearthed during construction at an apartment complex in Fayetteville near Fort Bragg.
The mines were taken to Fort Bragg by explosives experts.
A federal agent said the live mines contained 12 pounds each of explosive material and were designed to destroy an armored vehicle.
