Mr. Governor, You have been lucky that there hasn’t been a hurricane the past 3 years in Florida. Don’t press your luck and sign the bill. Doesn’t it tell you something about the rate inadequacy when it states that the rates could rise by 55% if it weren’t for this bill. Sign the bill and carefully watch the start up homeowner insurance providers for solvency and proper reinsurance.

    Charley –
You would think he would have figured this out by now, but the good ol’ gov can’t back track now, it would look like he was clueless.

Anyway, it would be too logical to sign the bill, now wouldn’t it? Let them eat cake.

Let me understand this. I live in a condo in Jensen Beach; not on the water; not near the water; made out of cement block; new poly roof; tempered glass windows and Citizens insurers. So, my insurance rate especially the fl hurrican cat fund up to $90 tacted on to my policy means that I pay this because the insurance company doesn’t want to take the risk of paying out for homeowners who get caught in a hurricane! So if I’m paying for ‘just in case someone gets hit’ why do I have an insurance company? I thought I pay for me; my property if it gets hit, not for someone else’s who are in a higher risk area meaning on the water, near the water and worth millions of dollars. My little property isn’t worth $150k if that now; so why do we pay for someone else’s higher risk mishap? I cannot afford this policy and now thinking I just may not have any insurance at all! THANKS GOOD OLD FLORIDA LEGISLATION – if you were doctors, you’d be quacks!! How’s the insurance lobbists doing?
