Not much surprise that Gov (want to be your Senator)Crist is backing his man. McCarty will be backing Crist in his run for Senate. McCarty will be like most former FL Insurance Commissioners and will be moving on up soon, despite his incompetence.
How sad to think that this idiot has the same chance of being a Senator as Obama had at becoming President. Under dogs but able to lie to enough people and convince them he is the right man for the job. It scares me that he is Governor, It sickens me that people are so blind and apparently used to being lied to that they could elect him to Senate.

McCarty helped Bennett craft the bill, then turned around and told Crist to veto it. What a backstabber!!! No wonder Bennett is pissed.
McCarty has done a terrible job since Crist got into office. The state of the property insurance market in Florida is horrible, at best. The Cat Fund is $18 Billion short and state run Citizens Insurance Company is now the largest home insurer in the state. None of that is good, and it happened under McCarty’s watch. It will bankrupt the state of Florida.
In order to fix it, the insurance commissioner is going to need the help of legislators and nsurance companies. Since McCarty has now alienated everyone except Charlie Crist, it would be impossible for him to be part of the solution. He is actually a big part of the problem.
Can anyone name just one thing that McCarty has done to improve the health of the insurance industry in Florida.
Same applies for Crist, they both need to go. I would guess that if Crist pulls an Obama and gets in, he will tap McCarty as high level staff person. Who else would want to follow him?
The insurance commissioner’s duty is to protect the policyholders and taxpayers from harm by the insurance companies. The insurance industry in Florida makes plenty of money, do you can stop worrying about the poor little insurance industry.
as a reader from far away who has watched the Florida insurance market closely the last few years, I can agree with most of the comments: Crist looks like a real looser, and is a Republican in name only.

We (not I) elected him because he was the best that would step up. Kind of a shame when you think about it.
